Triangle introduces the new Esprit Esw line with the Celius Esw, Antal Esw, and Altea Esw. Improvements over the previous Es models include a fuller and deeper bass, a more refined midrange and treble, better imaging, and better power handling. Sensitivity is high at 91 dB for the Antal and Altea, and 92 dB for the Celius. And, there is no price increase for the new models. The famous Triangle sound, fast, open and detailed, still remains. To achieve this sound, Triangle makes all drivers in house to exacting specs. The entire Esprit line incorporates technology from Triangle’s Magellan line, including the signature horn-loaded tweeter, new crossovers, and a 3 point base on the Altea, Antal and Celius. The cabinets are narrow for better imaging, bass response has been extended and the highs are more refined than the previous 202 models. Finishes are Bordeaux, Cognac and a limited number of Champagne. The Celius, Noxa Major and Khos have wood cabinets, and the other models are high-quality vinyl. Five speakers are in the current Stereophile Recommended Components: the Titus, Comete, Heliade, Antal and Celius. We suggest the Comete if you want an excellent monitor with good bass, and the Heliade if you want a great floorstanding speaker that delivers Triangle quality at the modest price of $1195 retail, plus is Stereophile Class B $$$ rated. The Antal Esw is the best $2000 speaker we have heard. If you want more bass and a bit more midrange detail, and a wood cabinet, go for the Celius Esw.
